Mosquito repellent bracelet
Mosquito repellent bracelets are said to be one of the ideal products for outdoor protection against these insects. Different repellents are used in bracelets that do not kill mosquitoes, but make humans unattractive to them.
Recent studies indicate that one of the best repellents – DEET - may cause adverse reactions and this has prompted the governments to issue warnings and guidelines concerning its use. That is why natural products such as citronella oil, phytoncide and natural aroma are used as repellent ingredients in mosquito repellent bracelets and make them safe to human and environment. Some bracelets are used with GIN2, a plant-based system with “very effective repulsive properties against mosquitoes” – as manufactures state it.
Bracelets usually smell like soft lime or peppermint and so are pleasant to wear, but mosquitoes and other pests just hate this smell.
Mosquito repellent bracelets are reported to be effective for a minimum of 12 hours and up to a week or even longer. Therefore they are recommended for outdoor activities such as boating, camping, golfing, jogging, fishing, hunting, gardening etc. As most of the bracelets are made waterproof, they stay effective after sweating or other contact with moisture.
Mosquito repellent bracelets come in different colors and forms and can be worn on wrist, ankle, attached to belt buckle or shoe laces.
Some studies show that repellent bracelets are not so effective and can last only several minutes.
